Duo van Immerseel & Seiler
With Midori Seiler and Jos van Immerseel, two of the best experts in their field have joined together to create an exceptional duo.
The violinist Midori Seiler, concertmistress of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Anima Eterna, has earned the reputation of being a world-class soloist. Her diverse solo-performances of works by composers such as J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, and Rimsky-Korsakov have been critically acclaimed.
Jos van Immerseel, the pianist, conductor, and specialist for historical keyboard instruments, is one of the best-known musical personalities of the international early music scene. With his orchestra Anima Eterna he has specialized in the music of the late 18th and 19th centuries.
The focal point of this duo lies in the classical and romantic repertoire for violin and piano. Whether they perform the music of Ravel or Mozart, the two concentrate on the stylistic matters of historical performance as well as their choice of instruments, thereby letting Jos van Immerseel choose from his vast collection of fortepianos for their concerts.
Since playing together the Duo Seiler and van Immerseel have created three extraordinary recordings: the piano-violin sonatas of Beethoven, Schubert, and Mozart, the latter of which was awarded the Diapason de l’année in 2003.
