Oh, Your Majesty! Your Majesty, are You tired of ruling? Then play something nice, something thought provoking… No? What is the matter, Your Majesty, are You sad? Then play something amusing! Ah, does Your Majesty want to be entertained? Then play, sing, and dance!
Hille Perl, one of Germany’s best known viola da gamba players of today, shows children how the musical versatility and rich sonority of the gamba made it the instrument of choice for all kings and queens. Countless works were composed and arranged for this noble instrument, including music for one or two gambas, as well as consort music for as many as six or ten gambas. By combining courtly and musical life together in this concert, Hille Perl shows how music can create feelings, express emotions, and even speak, thereby creating an enjoyable musical journey for children through the literature for gamba.
